The Bolton Branch is an entity that was created by Mr. Terrance J. Bolton as a means of assistance in student leadership training and increase of student level productivity. This training is designed to grant all who take it the ability to take control of their powers and abilities within the university doctrine already in place by way of their governing documents and the student code of conduct. These things are always in accordance with the governing laws of the state in which the university is and empowered/approved but the legal teams, General Councils and the Board of Regents.

There are 5 pillar groups of the program that identify and cultivate the five major areas of student leadership on the majority of collegiate campus. These are the most consistent and the most likely to be at the helm of all major decision making processes of the institution. They are:

  • STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION (SGA)

  • UNIVERSITY PROGRAM COUNCIL/CAMPUS ACTIVITIES BOARD (UPC/CAB)

  • THE ROYAL COURT (MISTER, MISS & THE INNER COURT)

  • GREEK LIFE ( THE DIVINE NINE, MCG)

  • COLLEGIATE 100

These are the five factions that in my experience are the ruling class within the student leadership arena. When given the opportunity and the correct advising in place, these 5 entities can truly increase the productivity of any institution. These are the student factions that are utilized to increase enrollment as recruitment tools. The SGA is the supreme governing body of the campus as its president is the functioning voice of all students identified by the office of the registrar, while the UPC/CAB coordinate any and all events, student networking opportunities and internal activities for student, faculty and alumni enjoyment. The Royal Court is the Monarchy that is the representation or the “face” of the institution. When our women were not allowed to run for the title of “Miss America”, the HBCU answered that call by creating the collegiate Queen. The standard of American beauty did not include the beautiful black woman in those days. Our ancestors would not take this lying down. They created this safe space to celebrate the elevation of our beautiful Queens. Our men soon followed suit. The HBCU King is the Lord of the institution. His presence is not only necessary, it’s DEMANDED. The Greeks of the Divine Nine are what I call the last remaining pure shred of our African American Heritage. When we were not allowed to join the groups of society, again, we created our own. These are the fundamental standards of inspiration for self-identity. Then there is the newest of them all. The Collegiate 100 Black Men. Its responsibility is to cultivate the upward mobility of the African American everywhere.

  • A dream is a wish your heart makes. We should be living our dreams and not settling for the realization of nightmares. The thought of a new leadership ability makes even the bravest person shiver just a little bit. There are so many activities that makes this a possible reality for us all. If we are to truly live out our dreams, the purity of what this life can offer will provide such a supreme standard of living! SO DREAM WITH YOUR EYES OPEN!

  • My BBL program is a new ideal that grants leadership a more intense and assertive standing. My BBL stands for “Building a Better Leader”. It’s an intricate system of activities and tests that are utilized to push the student leader to expound heavier on their unique capabilities. By granting them more open responsibilities, This will enhance their own thought processes in the outward projections that will give them the confidence, conformability and the assertiveness to go further than they could have ever imagined in the execution of their duties. We as the administrative staff have an obligation to train and prepare the next generation of leadership. WE MUST STOP TREATING THEM LIKE CHILDREN AND GIVE THEM THE SAME EXECUTIVE LEVEL STRENGTH WE ABIDE BY.

  • When we were children, I know everybody dreamed of being a prince or a princess. Well, these actions are possible in college and can even grant you the opportunity to b a King or a Queen! But therein also lies a issue, The focus for many universities for many a decade has been the Queen. We must empower our young men and support them in the very same effort. This training program speaks to that and even grants the “contestants” & “contenders” the advanced training on how to win a pageant, select suitable styles post-pageant, elocution, etiquette and platform execution.

  • Nourishment has its merit. If we would just begin to feed our men and women the true knowledge they are thirsting for, the seeds planted have the potential to grow a new generation of forward thinking, unapologetically bold leaders who are brave enough to take on the challenges of a broken system they had no part of building. This is for the student leader who hasn’t even been conceived yet. Their upward mobility is of the upmost importance.

  • Student events have a great deal of importance in the collegiate setting. This portion of the program is designed to teach them how to effective organize and schedule a yearly activities board. Budgeting, marketing and advertising is also inserted into the training. Decor and set design are a fixture that we teach to ensure the “flow” of the event match the morale of its theme and targeted audiences. Creating a simulated world inside of a venue should always be the aim.
